Skui Village, Ladakh

 supporting communities hit by disaster

skui

Community Sponsors launched an appeal for Ladakh following the devasting floods of August 2010. The generosity of our supporters enabled us to change the lives of the Skui villagers.

The Skui village sits in the famous Markha valley that is visited by hundreds of tourists each year, which not suprisingly has been one of its main sources of livelihood.  The peak tourist season is between June and September.

By providing basic necessities, including a community kitchen, winter supplies of fuel and food and sports items for the local schools, Community Sponsors, together with Save The Children India, has been able to change the life of the villagers of Skui. We have also been able to supply such basics as shelter, food and stoves, helping the whole community to carry on following the devastation caused by the floods.

A big thank you to all the supporters of Community Sponsors Ladakh Appeal.
